The Challenge

The installed IPTV system from Tripleplay by Uniguest provided patients with channels mainly from the UK, but this didn’t meet the needs of all patients as many were from various parts of the world, with different cultures and languages. The site is located close to Buckingham Palace and there is a restriction in the area preventing satellite dishes being installed. Then, Front of House Manager at Cleveland, Renata Milekovic contacted Uniguest with a ‘wish list’ of channels required.

The Solution

Tripleplay contacted their content partner, Techlive International which was to able to deliver 40 international IPTV channels using their United TV service. A professional 1U rack mounted server was installed at the IPTV headend and connected to the core IPTV switch. The server is able to receive a unicast stream for each channel, but converts this to a multicast stream for the local network enabling concurrent viewing of each channel.

The United TV service can deliver hundreds of international TV channels with the signals being sourced from satellites around the world and then being seamlessly delivered to the end user. Techlive International arranges the specific broadcasting rights with the rights holders for commercial distribution, creating a turn-key solution for adding bespoke channel line-ups.

The service is then monitored 24/7 x 365 through the United TV Master Control Room.

Front of House Manager, Renata Milekovic commented “We have been really delighted with the United TV service which has helped entertain and inform many our patients and made them feel at home and truly cared for”
